What in the world is going on?

Watch the TV Show from the 70’s Barney Miller. The show was touted for being open and diverse. It was heralded for taking on social issues head on. It could have been written yesterday. We have gone nowhere.

We need to deconstruct government worldwide. We need to rise up, and mandate change or change will come at the hands of the government, the oligarchs and the media moguls. We are being manipulated, beat to death with misinformation, distracted and put to sleep. What’s worse is it is an ongoing loop that has played for the whole history of humankind.

To speak out is to put myself at risk. Friends and followers will drop, dismiss or argue. I have some faith that perhaps in self-reflection others will ask the question “What can I do?” One at a time, recognize the truth. One at a time step out of the trends and echo chamber. One at a time make to conscious decision to affect what they can.

Religion aside, Jesus taught one institution. He taught the institution of love. Love encompasses or “covers” the great tide of misaligned efforts in life. Love slows us down. Love makes us consider. Love makes us pause and reflect before we act or react.

We have to be honest about what we call evil. We cannot make exception for selfish greed, inconsiderate self-righteousness, lack of compassion unbridled hedonism or declarations of judgement based upon culture and tradition lacking wisdom, borne of fear and anger. We have to be honest with ourselves. If our politics are jaded, the end doesn’t justify the means. Get rid of it. If our habits are corrupt, change. If one by one we change, at least there is a ripple in this pond of injustice and hypocrisy.

Today, I will deconstruct.

Today, I will love.

Today, negativity goes.

Today, I am taking my stand.

I wear no label. I am a human. I can choose. I choose love.
